True, true.

If you were to roll Enron together with something religious
and then some wacky crime/fugitive/jailbreak situation, 
Texas could sneak up on Florida!
 
And I had forgotten some of California's latest entries,
the Sulayman al-Lindh (nee John Walker Lindh) situation and
the revived prosecution of a ~30-year-old SLA murder case.

Some other states are, IMO, way behind in their weirdness-
per-capita: New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania.
