How about the next big thing being a change in attitude? I could do without
new products for a while -- I'm still trying to climb out from beneath the
deluge of the 90's. And attitude changes can be huge...
For example, many medical professionals in the States would like to overhaul
the specifically American attitude that everyone deserves free yet perfect,
no-holds-barred, health care. They argue that it's detrimental to our health
care system, causes skewed expenditures, and results in a much less fair and
less focused system than other countries have where considerably less money
is spent.
This isn't on my top-four list, but you get the idea.
My top four list, at least at this moment without a huge ton of thought, is
as follows, in increasing importance. I would like Americans to have
conviction that:
4. Shit happens. Not every thing is someone else's fault. Take
it easy on the lawsuits.
3. New isn't necessarily better. Take the time to really learn
about what's out there, and what's been done, first.
2. Other nations and peoples matter. Pay attention to their
welfare. Spread the wealth.
1. Resources matter. Pay attention to conservation and waste.
Consume less, and produce smarter.
Donning my flameproof suit...
